App Description
qBittorrent has become the standard file sharing app as I stopped looking for similar alternatives since I was a regular user of uTorrent - which was at one point the most famous BitTorrent client.
Many years ago the Internet was all about file sharing. I think it was one of the big things that helped the Internet spread faster along with the chat apps which later evolved into social networks. If I recall correctly I was using P2P software before BitTorrent protocol even existed. If you heard about Napster or Gnutella (and a few others I can't even remember their names) then you're as old as I am. You can't really imagine the difference between the original P2P technology and the improvement along with BitTorrent protocol. For many people, this was similar to uTorrent. It was good while it lasted but fortunately qBittorrent came up just in time.
Why I Love qBittorrent for Sharing Files
I'm using qBittorrent since I was proud of my ADSL connection, and I really think it's one of the best free torrent clients you can find.
It's a small, open-source program that helps you download and share files using BitTorrent. You can get it on Windows, Mac, Linux, and even FreeBSD. What I like most is how clean it is with no ads, no extra toolbars, no junk. Just a simple, fast, and reliable program. Critics says that its user interface is old - I really don't care as I never chased shiny interfaces over functionality.
What Makes qBittorrent So Great:
Built-in search tool: You can look for torrents right in the app without going to sketchy websites.
Download while watching: You can start watching videos before they finish downloading.
Make your own torrents: You can create and share your own torrents when you need to send big files to friends or coworkers.
Lots of controls: You can set download speed limits, block certain IP addresses, set up port forwarding, and schedule downloads.
Web control panel: There's a way to manage your downloads from another computer or your phone.
Zero ads: This is huge! Many free torrent programs show ads, but qBittorrent doesn't.
It has everything you'd want from programs like uTorrent or BitTorrent, but without the extra stuff or attempts to sell you things. Plus, it gets regular updates and uses very little of your computer's power. Not to mention it is open-source.
Important: like any torrent client, it's not meant for stealing stuff—it's a file-sharing tool. People use it to share personal files, free software, Linux installation files, big data collections, or videos they've made themselves. It's a helpful tool as long as you use it the right way. There were cases in the past when qBittorrent was flagged as false-positive by certain AV companies.
